Say Goodbye to Rapidshare - Soon to Close Down

Rapidshare was recently sued by a German anti-Piracy group and lost, and since has been court ruled to monitor all downloads for GEMA copyrighted files. The company claims it's unable to regulate copyright content, and as such is liable for an pirated material found on its servers. The site is going to be investing in new hardware to help catch such piracy, but will surely have to raise its rates and users will get angry at the increased prices and surely stop buying premium accounts making their business model all the more unviable. In the next few years, or even months - Rapidshare is going to steadily decline in traffic and files hosted as a result and users who are paranoid about anti-piracy organizations having free range over Rapidshare's user logs will go elsewhere for hosting.
